FastTrac Business Development Workshop

In this 10-week program, aspiring and early stage entrepreneurs develop and refine a business concept, taking it through each step of the business planning process. Using readings, research, and discussion, plan and analyze your entrepreneurial vision to create a thoroughly researched and tested Business Plan, sales presentation and rough financial projections.

The FastTrac program is provided through the Kauffman Foundation and the Port Orange South Daytona Chamber of Commerce membership.

This is a hybrid format - in-person get-togethers, live on-line sessions and guided individual research and planning. Guest speakers, SCORE Mentors and local business leaders will be on hand to share their experiences and expertise.

The FastTrac program addresses the broad range of issues and needs encountered by any business in the suggested development sequence : Ideate, Position, Commit, Refine, Launch. This a comprehensive introduction to Business Development from the Kauffman Foundation with support from the Small Business Administration (SBA).

The formal "program" sessions will start in September - exact dates will be published shortly. You can get started NOW. The online program information is extensive so you can work through the program and work on your actual Business Planning.

Let me know if you want to join now. I'll add you to the FastTrac online program and help you get started.

If you have any questions about the FastTrac program, please ask.

BUSINESS PLAN

Business Plan . Plan out the key elements of your business from marketing to pricing and everything in between.

  • Work through the related FastTrac activities as they are covered. These are all save and are used to generate your "final" business plan deliverable. This is a FastTrac special feature.
  • There are many Business Plan templates. Most include the same information as the FastTrac Business Plan. Just starting with a 40-page template can be overwhelming.
  • Who will you be sharing your business plan with. Many lenders, funders, advisors have their own requirements and may not match with the plan you produce here.
  • SCORE Business plan templates

BUSINESS DESIGN

Business Design . Visualize your business concept, see new opportunities, and design or redesign your business model with this template.

? Business Model Canvas

  • 3 ideas, 3 1-page plans. Think about the general idea, then imagine several different versions. Same product or service. Different initial target market. Different ways to reach these customers. Different partners for advertising and promotion. Different sources. Different distribution. Cost and Revenue are likely to be different in each case. Be sure to keep these. They may come in handy in the future is you need to pivot when you learn more about the business.

PITCH

Pitch . Develop the clear and concise story of your business, to be shared with friends, potential customers, investors, and the market at large.

FINANCIAL FORECAST

Financial Forecast . Create a financial forecast that will help you predict, measure, and analyze the growth of your business for the next 3 years.

  • Cash flow - create a rough cashflow statement. Many small businesses fail because they run out of cash before they generate enough revenue to keep up with start-up and early operating expenses.
  • SCORE financial templates library . FastRac resources examples . Review the models provided.Use the example that best suits your business. To the best of your ability, fill in your numbers. Suggestion. Do 3 versions - best case, most likely based on your current understanding of your business, and bad enough for you to really reconsider this idea.
