Writing and abstract
A framework, referred to as "Tiny Text" as proposed by Thomson and Kamler (2012)[1] which forms the basis of an abstract, can be used as a planning tool for a research paper or proposal (Mewburn, 2011)[2].
The Tiny Text has four parts

| 2. Focus | The question arising | In this paper the focus is on ...; The research question this paper addresses ... |
| 3. Report | What was done and what was found | Analysing the findings shows ... |
| 4. Argue | Why it matters and where to from here | The paper argues that ... and concludes by suggesting that ... |
Or in a theoretical paper

Or in Empirical research
- Empirical research is a way of gaining knowledge by means of direct and indirect observation or experience. Empirical evidence (the record of one's direct observations or experiences) can be analyzed quantitatively or qualitatively.
